Altogether these areas total over 17,900 square miles and offer a range of hunting terrain from riverine flood plains to escarpment foothills. Across this range of habitat, hunters will encounter big cats, Kudu, Buffalo, Bushbuck, Puku, Impala, Warthog, Zebra and moderately high numbers of Roan, Eland, Hartebeest and Common Waterbuck. Crocodile and Hippo abound in the Luangwa River and in the escarpment hills, Klipspringers offer a challenging hunt. The Safari camp is located along the riverbank with spectacular views of the river. During the dry season much of the plains species concentrate on the lush flood plains adjacent to the river. The valley is a vast catchment that funnels down a 200 mile long valley with a widely meandering Luangwa River flowing down the middle, supporting over 20,00 Hippos and as many Crocodiles as you will find in a southern Africa river. Luangwa is famous for its Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Kudu and smaller game, and a big cat hunt in the Luangwa is an unsurpassed experience for the hunter. Giraffe and growing numbers of Elephants also grace the landscape.
Our hunting area is the West Petauke Game Management Area. This area, 1,757 square miles in extent, is unique in the sense that it provides a wide range of habitats from plains on top of the Muchinga escarpment, mountainous areas in the hills, forests on the slopes and thick riverine bush on the flood plains of the Luangwa River. This combined with natural clear springs, hot water fountains and mountain streams makes it ideal to accommodate a variety of species. It is a rugged area and hunters should be in good shape. West Petauke is famous for excellent Leopard, Roan, Buffalo, Kudu and very good Lion.
KASONSO
Situated in the North Western Province of Zambia, this area has an interesting range of habitats, from open plains and Miombo woodlands to very dense thickets. In the South it borders the famous Kafue National Park where game moves freely back and forth between the GMA and the Park. Part of the Busanga plains extend into Kasonso GMA which is famous for its huge maned Lions. Healthy populations of Puku, Reedbuck and Bushbuck also ensure a good Leopard population and a high success rate on large Leopards. It is the only area in Zambia where Red Lechwe, Yellow backed Duiker and Blue Duiker occur. It is unique in so far as it has swamp where Sitatunga can be hunted in good numbers.
