Goose hunting is a fantastic experience in Iceland. Four different species of geese can be hunted in Iceland : Greylag goose, Pinkfooted goose, Whitefronted goose and Barnacle goose. Standard goose hunting program consist of 5 days, thereof 3 days of hunting. For best results we suggest a group of 2 hunters. A day's result for 2 hunters can be anywhere between 0 - 50 geese per day depending of course on the shooting ability of each hunter. Weather, temperature and other factors of nature will certainly also influence the result. When needed our outfitter uses dogs, preferably Labrador Retrievers. Our outfitter hunts only in their own fields.

HUNTING SEASON:
Hunting season is from August 20th until March 15th. The best period is September 20th - October 10th. No limit.

RIFLES:
Shotguns gauge 12, double barrel or 3-shot pump or semi-automatic are the most suitable.

CLOTHING/TEMPERATURES:
Warm, waterproof waterfowl camo clothing., warm underwear and knee high rubber boots. Temperatures can vary from 0° - 15° centigrade, but generally the temperature is +5 to +10 centigrade, except in the early morning, when it can be colder. Our Outfitter offers excellent Ptarmigan hunting in the prime hunting areas in the east part of Iceland. Ptarmigan hunting is by far the most popular wing shooting sport in Iceland and game is plentiful. Standard ptarmigan hunting program consists of 6 days, thereof 4 days of hunting. For best results we suggest a hunting group with 2 - 4 hunters. The day's result for a ptarmigan hunter can be anywhere between 1 - 50 birds per day per hunter. This depends of course on the shooting ability of each hunter, but weather will certainly also influence the result. When hunting in brush cover dogs are usually used.

HUNTING SEASON:
From October 15th until December 20th. The prime hunting period is from October 15th until November 10th. Please keep in mind that the daylight becomes shorter each week during the hunting season.

Seabird (puffin and guillemot) hunting is a very popular sport in Iceland. Hunting from boat, 100 birds per day per hunter is common. Iceland is the only country in the world where you can hunt puffins. A standard seabird hunting program consists of five days, thereof 3 days of hunting. For best results we suggest a hunting group with 2 - 3 hunters. A day´s result for a hunter can be anywhere between 10-200 birds. This depends of course on the shooting ability of each hunter, but weather will certainly also influence the result. During this hunt you will usually be able to shoot all five types of guillemot birds(Alcidae), Guillemot, Black Guillemot, Brünnich's Guillemot, Razorbill and Puffin.
