HUNTING DOGS
Hunt over Field Trail Champion Pointers! We have some of the best pointers in South Africa. We will have 4 - 6 dogs operating depending on the area.
SHOTGUNS
We recommend a 12 bore shotgun for use on your South African Wing-Shooting Safari. Firstly, ammunition is readily available and secondly you will find it the best suited to cover our whole range of game birds. For those who prefer the lower recoil of a 20 bore, ammunition is available, but advance notice is required as a variety of shot sizes can be a problem. Without trying to enter into an age old argument, we recommend the following shot sizes.
Geese: #1's for Spurwing and #3's for Egyptian Geese
Duck and Teal: #4's and 5's
Guinea Fowl: #4's
Francolin: #6's and 7's
Doves and Pigeon: #7's
If you require ammunition, please let us know in advance. Ammunition is $15.00/box (lead shot).
Semi-Automatics are permitted but no pump action shotguns are allowed.
TRAVEL & FIREARMS
In addition to a valid passport, South Africa does not require an entry visa. There are no health hazards in South Africa and therefore no inoculations are required. You will automatically be issued a Temporary Import/Export permit for you firearms at your port of entry to South Africa. Transport is by Microbus to the hunting area and from there with hunting vehicle. We highly recommend South African Airways for your international flight, arriving in Johannesburg.
