Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTION: What caliber rifle should I bring? 308-300 mag. Depends on species being hunted. More options are available with the heavier caliber, especially when shooting over long distances in the mountains.

QUESTION: Can I hunt 350 - 400 SCI score stags free ranging in New Zealand? Generally no, these stags are only available on fenced preserves. Most of our stags in the wild are of the traditional 12-14 point type (180 - 300 SCI). Bigger stags are shot each year but these are a rarity rather than the norm.

QUESTION: What are the chances of a wapiti in Fiordland? Wapiti are in Fiordland and securing a reasonable trophy requires a lot of determination. The rewards however, are truly worth the effort.
