CARIBOU HUNTING AT ITS VERY BEST!

Our Outfitter at Humpy and Little Forehead Lakes has been recognized for outstanding World Class Trophies and now holds World Records in all three hunting categories; rifle, archery and black powder.

Hunting Central Barren Ground Caribou.Humpy and Little Forehead Lakes are small lakes with many other small lakes surrounding them. Caribou seem to bottleneck through this land area moving slowly as they graze and rest from mid-August to the beginning of September when they begin to pick up speed to get into the tree-line before freeze up. Bow hunters have their greatest success in getting at close range during August and early September when the bulls are still taking their time, however, some very nice trophies have been taken by archery hunters during the last part of the hunt season too. The archery and rifle World Records were taken mid-September.

Fishing in the Northwest Territories.This is a family run business which provides one of the best hunting experiences in North America. Among these folks it is a family tradition to pass on from father to son the ancient art of their "hunting know how". Their skills with caribou meat and fish are definitely favorites. Our guides know the caribou, how to find them and how to take them. Their expertise ensures that each client will be positioned in the best hunting location possible.

Hunting Central Barren Ground Caribou.Winter River runs through Little Forehead Lake providing an abundance of fine northern fish, including Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, Whitefish and Northern Pike. The waters are clean, deep and cold producing firm healthy fish. With the arctic climate, however, fish take longer to reproduce. So, we have a "catch and release" policy. However, the cook is prepared to serve your catch for at least one meal during your stay. And, of course, if you catch a jumbo record breaking fish that you must keep it to prove you caught it, we'll prepare your fish for shipping and/or mounting.

In camp taxidermy expertise is also provided to our hunters at both hunting locations. Services offered by resident taxidermist involves the careful preparation of trophies for mounting. This includes caping, salting and velvet preservation for trophies still in velvet. These wildlife artists will work with you to design a unique presentation that will ensure the artistic display of your trophy for a lifetime.
