OUR OUTFITTERS:

Twenty five years plus as a specialist trophy hunting safari guide and outfitter in the Top End of Australia's Northern Territory has placed this outfitter at the top of this profession. As the longest serving professional guide in Australia, our reputation for providing successful trophy hunts is legendary. Since the outfit opened, it has developed a series of hunting concessions that allows us to offer a unique range of hunts with trophies that include the elusive Banteng, Buffalo, Sambar Deer, Wild Boar and Wild Goat.

Due to a joint venture, this well respected outfitter is in the unique position of having Aboriginal ownership and offers a genuine insight into the traditional Aboriginal way of life while tailoring each hunt to suit the individual party. Each hunting party includes an experienced guide and Aboriginal tracker. We take no more than two hunters with a guide and tracker. Your guides are all experienced hunters and will take care of every detail of your hunt to ensure a game trophy you will be proud of. Your trackers are the traditional owners of the land and will keep you fascinated with their skills and tales of the history of the bush.

THE SAFARI ACCOMMODATIONS:

Comfortable and practical base camps have been established on the concessions in the North-west and South-central Arnhemland, and at the top of Gurig National Park on the Cobourg Peninsula. Each is well appointed and offers twin-share, up-market tented accommodations, hot and cold showers, toilets and wine with dinner. Meals are hearty and nourishing and special dietary conditions can be catered for providing notice is given.

The Djinkarr Main Safari Accommodations has a central lodge where gourmet meals are served as tales of the day's hunt are told. Nestled in the surrounding bush, offering complete privacy, are the sleeping quarters which are large and luxurious tents. Each tent is has a completely fitted bathroom with hot water. The fly camps are comprised of a large covered mess area with small individual tents nearby.

THE HUNTING METHOD & EQUIPMENT:

We cater to hunters using both bows and rifles. For those wishing to use their own equipment and for international clients, the import and export firearm permits, temporary shooters licenses and gun permits necessary to meet the stringent Australian and Northern Territory regulations can be organized at the time reservations are made. We also maintain a range of firearms of various caliber, with appropriate ammunition suitable for this style of trophy hunting that can be hired n site by prior arrangement.

THE HUNT CONDITIONS & HUNTING SEASONS:

Seasonal factors can affect hunt conditions, in particular access to some of the preferred buffalo country. The hunt concessions are all located between 11 and 13 degrees south of the equator, and a distinctive wet season delivers sharp, frequent, intense tropical downpours between January and April, making vehicle access treacherous. Buffalo - Are best hunted between May and November. Sambar Deer, Banteng and Wild Boar - Make suitable trophy hunting throughout the year.

The "Top End" of Australia has two distinct seasons: the Dry from May to October and the Wet from November until April. The most favorable time for hunting is during the Dry Season when rain is a rarity and the days are warm and fee from humidity. The Wet Season offers the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular scenery with thunderous waterfalls and flooded billabongs. Hunting is more of a challenge during this season when game tends to be more widely dispersed. Magpie geese and a wide variety of duck species can be hunted during the waterfowl season which usually runs between the months of September and December.
